| 8-7 | 15 min | If your virtual machine was created using any version of VmWorkstation prior to 6.5, you may encounter a problem with the provider order tab disappearing from the advanced settings dialog box. In order to prevent this issue, you will need to modify the following registry keys before beginning this activity:1. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\hgfs and delete this key.2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\vmhgfs and delete any reference to “hgfs” from this key.3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\NetworkProvider\HwOrder and delete any reference to “hgfs” from ProviderOrder registry value data list.4. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\NetworkProvider\Order and delete any reference to “hgfs” from ProviderOrder registry value data list. |
